Morocco is rapidly accelerating its digital sovereignty, aiming to become a regional benchmark for Artificial Intelligence (AI). This vision was highlighted during the India AI Impact Summit 2026 in New Delhi (February 16-20), where Amal El Fallah Seghrouchni, Minister Delegate for Digital Transition, presented Morocco’s “Third Path”—an AI model that bridges global innovation with African realities.
“Maroc IA 2030”: A $10 Billion Strategic Leap
The “AI Made in Morocco” roadmap is no longer just a plan; it is a multi-billion dollar economic engine. Integrated into the broader Digital Morocco 2030 strategy, the Kingdom has set ambitious benchmarks for the next four years:
- Economic Impact: Targeting a $10 billion (approx. 100 MMDH) boost to national GDP by 2030.
- Job Creation: Generating 50,000 direct AI-related positions and 240,000 digital jobs overall.
- Talent Pipeline: Upskilling 200,000 young Moroccans in high-level AI and Data Science.

Legal Revolution: Digital X.0 and Idarati X.0
To ensure a secure transition, the Moroccan government is finalizing the “Digital X.0” Framework Law. This legislation focuses on three critical areas: data governance, digital identity, and seamless interoperability between public and private sectors.
Earlier in February 2026, the Idarati X.0 project was officially launched, utilizing AI to centralize all administrative procedures into a single, user-friendly interface. This “Privacy by Design” approach ensures that citizen data remains protected while drastically reducing bureaucratic delays.
Ethical Leadership and UNESCO Partnership
Morocco is one of the top four countries globally to adopt UNESCO’s Readiness Assessment Methodology for AI. By aligning with international ethical standards, the Kingdom ensures that its technological growth remains human-centered and inclusive.
