Germany Emerges as a Key Tourism Market for Morocco at ITB Berlin 2026

Morocco showcased its tourism offer at ITB Berlin 2026 with a large national pavilion, new airline agreements, and partnerships with major German tour operators to boost visitor numbers.

Morocco used the 60th edition of the International Tourism Bourse, ITB Berlin 2026, to reinforce its position in the German tourism market. The global travel fair, held in Berlin from March 3 to 5, brought together nearly 6,000 exhibitors and more than 170 destinations, making it one of the most important events for the international tourism industry.

Through the Moroccan National Tourist Office, Morocco presented a strategy focused on stronger promotion, expanded air connectivity, and deeper partnerships with major travel operators. The Moroccan delegation reflected a coordinated effort between public institutions and private tourism stakeholders to accelerate growth in the German market.

Large Moroccan Pavilion Highlights Regional Tourism

At the heart of Morocco’s presence was a national pavilion covering more than 1,000 square meters and gathering over 140 tourism professionals. The space was designed as an immersive showcase of Morocco’s tourism offer and highlighted the diversity of destinations across the country.

Seven regions were represented, including Oriental, Fes-Meknes, and Souss-Massa. By promoting these territories, tourism authorities aim to encourage visitors to explore destinations beyond traditional circuits and distribute tourist flows more evenly across the country.

New Flights and Partnerships Target German Market Growth

Air connectivity remains a central pillar of Morocco’s tourism strategy. During the fair, agreements were signed with German airlines Condor, Eurowings, and Discover Airlines to increase capacity and open new routes linking Germany with Moroccan destinations. Royal Air Maroc also expanded its network with new connections between Nador and the cities of Frankfurt and Düsseldorf, in addition to the recently launched Casablanca–Munich route. Overall air capacity between the two countries is expected to grow by about 34 percent for the 2025–2026 season.

Morocco also strengthened distribution partnerships with major tour operators. Cooperation with the travel group TUI continues to expand, while a new agreement with Der Touristik aims to increase German tourist arrivals by around 25 percent over the next three years.

The strategy builds on strong market momentum. In 2025, Morocco welcomed more than 930,000 German visitors, representing an increase of about 11 percent compared with the previous year. Germany now ranks as Morocco’s seventh largest tourism source market and accounts for roughly five percent of international arrivals.
