Air Transport in Morocco Reaches Record 36.4 Million Passengers in 2025

Morocco’s air transport sector reached an all-time high in 2025, with passenger traffic approaching 36.4 million travelers, according to the latest figures released by the Directorate of Financial Studies and Forecasts (DEPF).

This historic performance represents an annual increase of 11.2%, following a strong rebound of 21% recorded at the end of 2024. The figures confirm the sustained recovery and structural growth of Morocco’s transport and logistics ecosystem.

International Air Traffic Drives Growth

International passenger traffic rose by 10.8% in 2025, driven by solid growth across multiple regions. Air flows with Europe increased by 9.9%, while traffic with the Middle East and Asia surged by 16.4%.

Even stronger growth was recorded on long-haul routes, with passenger traffic to and from North and South America climbing by 24.9%. Air connections with Africa expanded by 11.4%, while routes linking Morocco to Maghreb countries posted an increase of 8.8%.

Domestic Air Travel and Cargo Traffic on the Rise

Domestic air travel also showed robust momentum, with passenger numbers increasing by 13.9% in 2025. This growth reflects improved regional connectivity and rising demand for internal mobility.

Air freight activity followed a positive trajectory as well, recording a 5.3% increase by the end of 2025, supported by expanding trade flows and logistics operations.

Port Activity and Cruise Tourism See Strong Performance

Beyond aviation, Morocco’s port sector continued to strengthen. Commercial port traffic handled by ports managed by the National Ports Agency (ANP) reached 95.6 million tonnes by the end of November 2025, marking a 5.7% increase year-on-year.

This growth was fueled by higher import volumes (+4.6%), a sharp rise in coastal shipping (+45.8%), and stronger exports (+4.6%).

Passenger traffic through these ports rose by 4.5%, reaching nearly 2.3 million passengers. Cruise tourism recorded a particularly notable rebound, with a 51% increase in arrivals and more than 341,000 cruise passengers welcomed.

Transport and Logistics Value Added Continues to Improve

According to the DEPF, the value added of the transport and storage sector grew by 3.5% in the third quarter of 2025, following a 7.5% increase during the same period in 2024.

Combined with growth rates of 4.3% in the second quarter and 4% in the first quarter, the sector recorded an average increase of 3.9% over the first nine months of 2025, compared to 7.3% a year earlier.

These figures underline the resilience of Morocco’s transport infrastructure and its growing role as a regional hub for air travel, maritime trade, and logistics across Africa and beyond.
