Morocco continues to assert itself as one of the most dynamic tourism destinations in the Mediterranean region, according to Spain’s economic daily El Economista. The newspaper highlights the Kingdom’s steady rise on the global tourism scene, driven by long-term planning, strategic investments, and sustained growth in visitor numbers.
Strong Growth and Record Tourism Performance
According to El Economista, Morocco welcomed nearly 20 million tourists in 2025, marking a 14 percent increase compared to the previous year. Tourism revenues exceeded €11.5 billion, confirming the sector’s growing weight as a pillar of the national economy. Over the past two decades, the Kingdom has managed to triple its tourist arrivals, a performance that places it among the most competitive destinations in the wider Mediterranean basin.
The Spanish daily notes that these results are not the product of short-term policies, but rather the outcome of a coherent strategy combining destination promotion, infrastructure development, and service quality improvements.
A Long-Term Vision Toward 2030
The article also underscores Morocco’s long-term tourism vision, launched in the early 2000s with Plan Azur, strengthened through Vision 2010, and further consolidated under the 2023–2026 tourism roadmap. This latest framework is built around the Tourism Project Bank, which currently includes nearly 900 projects across 60 provinces, helping to better distribute investment nationwide.
Looking ahead, Morocco aims to attract 26 million tourists by 2030 and rank among the 15 most competitive tourism destinations worldwide. As El Economista concludes, the Kingdom’s tourism strategy reflects a clear ambition to position tourism as a sustainable driver of growth, competitiveness, and international influence.
