New Tender Launched with Increased Budget
SDL Rabat Région Mobilité has relaunched its tender for the acquisition and maintenance of two amphibious buses in Rabat, after a first unsuccessful consultation. The projected budget has been raised from 23 to 26 million dirhams, signaling strong institutional commitment to delivering this innovative mobility and tourism project.
The contract covers acquisition, delivery, commissioning, customs clearance, homologation, and maintenance. The buses must be new, diesel-powered, and certified for both road and maritime use, meeting strict technical, environmental, and safety standards.

A Panoramic Tourist Loop Between Key Landmarks
The amphibious buses will operate along the Bouregreg River, connecting the area near Mohammed VI Tower with the historic Kasbah of the Udayas. The route is designed as both an inter-river shuttle and a panoramic tourist loop, with a frequency of 30 to 40 minutes.
Each vehicle must accommodate at least 36 seated passengers, including two spaces for persons with reduced mobility, and reach a minimum speed of 60 km/h on land and around 7 knots on water. The project reflects Rabat’s ambition to combine urban innovation with tourism development along the Bouregreg valley.
