Stade Hassan II in Casablanca | Populous
Morocco is moving forward with one of its most ambitious sports infrastructure projects as MAD 3.2 billion has been earmarked for the roofing and façade works of the Grand Stade Hassan II. The investment reflects the scale and strategic importance of the stadium, currently under construction in Benslimane, near Casablanca.
According to several Moroccan media outlets, including economic and general news platforms, the contract concerns the stadium’s external envelope, covering the roof structure and façade. This phase is considered one of the most complex and visually defining elements of the project, both technically and architecturally.
A Key Phase in a Strategic National Project
The tender, launched by the National Agency for Public Facilities (ANEP), is expected to span around 24 months, involving advanced engineering works related to metallic structures, cladding, and large-scale roofing systems. The envelope will play a central role in shaping the stadium’s identity while meeting international standards for safety, sustainability, and spectator comfort.
Designed to host more than 100,000 spectators, the Grand Stade Hassan II is positioned as a flagship venue in Morocco’s preparations for major international competitions, including the 2030 FIFA World Cup, which the Kingdom will co-host.
A Symbol of Morocco’s Sporting Ambitions
Beyond its sporting function, the stadium represents a broader vision combining urban development, economic impact, and global visibility. The significant budget allocated to the roof and façade underlines Morocco’s commitment to delivering a world-class facility capable of rivaling the most iconic stadiums worldwide.
As construction advances, the Grand Stade Hassan II is set to become a defining landmark of Morocco’s infrastructure strategy, reinforcing the country’s ambition to establish itself as a leading destination for global sporting events.
