Morocco has been named one of the must-visit destinations for summer 2026 alongside Spain, Portugal and Italy, according to an analysis by HolidayCheck, one of the largest travel portals in the German-speaking world.

Growing interest from German-speaking travelers

The analysis is based on millions of searches and bookings collected from more than 60 tour operators. According to HolidayCheck, Morocco is emerging as a destination “on the rise in the Mediterranean region”.

The report highlights the increasing appeal of the Kingdom among travelers from Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

A unique blend of culture and beaches

HolidayCheck notes that Morocco attracts visitors thanks to its combination of oriental-inspired cultural experiences and a wide range of beaches.

This mix allows the country to stand out from traditional Mediterranean holiday destinations.

Colorful souks, historic medinas and desert landscapes offer travel experiences that differ significantly from classic seaside vacations.

Agadir and Essaouira gaining popularity

According to the travel portal, the regions of Agadir and Essaouira are particularly popular among visitors seeking to combine sunshine, beaches and cultural exploration during the same trip.

These coastal destinations provide access to Atlantic beaches while remaining close to historical cities and traditional markets.

A strong alternative to traditional Mediterranean resorts

HolidayCheck also highlights Morocco as an attractive alternative to traditional Mediterranean beach destinations.

The country benefits from good air connections with Europe and a reliable tourism infrastructure, factors that continue to strengthen its position on the international travel market.

With its diversity of landscapes and rich cultural heritage, Morocco is increasingly becoming a preferred summer destination for European travelers.
