Five Moroccan Teams to Represent the Kingdom at Global FIRST LEGO League Competitions

Morocco will be represented by five teams at major international robotics competitions following the conclusion of the national final of the FIRST® LEGO® League, held in early February 2026 at the Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P) campus in Benguerir.

Organized in partnership with the Ministry of National Education, Preschool Education, and Sports, the two-day event brought together young innovators from across the country. This year’s competition focused on the intersection of archaeology and technology under the theme “UNEARTHED”, highlighting creativity, problem-solving, and technical excellence.

Morocco’s Top Teams Earn International Qualification

After an intense national final, five teams distinguished themselves and secured qualification for prestigious global FIRST LEGO League events in 2026.

LOGIKO (Casablanca) claimed first place and will represent Morocco at the FIRST World Championship in Houston, United States, from April 29 to May 2, 2026.
Omar Robotic (Casablanca) finished second and qualified for the International Open in Corinth, Greece, scheduled from May 8 to 11.
Robotics For Future (Moulay Yacoub) secured third place and will compete in Guadalajara, Mexico, from May 27 to 30.
SUBROTIC Senior (Casablanca) placed fourth and earned a spot at the Canada Cup of Robotics in Thorold, Canada, from June 17 to 20.
ECOTEC Senior (Deroua) finished fifth and will participate in the Western Edge Invitational in Long Beach, United States, from May 29 to 31.

Promoting Moroccan Youth Innovation on the Global Stage

Speaking at the close of the event, Laila Berchane, President of LOOP For Science & Technology, emphasized the broader significance of the competition. She described the five qualifying teams as “ambassadors of the Digital Morocco 2030 strategy,” highlighting their role in showcasing Moroccan innovation and talent internationally.

Berchane also stressed the importance of collaboration between public institutions and academic partners, notably the Ministry of Education and UM6P, in supporting youth development in science, technology, engineering, and robotics.

The success of these teams reflects Morocco’s growing commitment to digital education and technological innovation, as well as its ambition to position young Moroccan talent at the forefront of global STEM initiatives.
