With the conclusion of the Africa Cup of Nations 2025, Fès is reactivating its territorial development agenda after months of focus on hosting responsibilities. The city, through the Société Fès Région Aménagements (SFRA), has resumed several large-scale projects that were slowed or temporarily suspended during the tournament.
Mobility and Urban Infrastructure Back on Track
Urban mobility represents a central pillar of the restart. A total investment of 127 million dirhams targets key road infrastructure. On Boulevard Mohammed VI, a 37.7 million dirham project will replace the existing railway overpass with a new reinforced concrete structure, alongside road access upgrades and improved drainage systems.
Meanwhile, nearly 90 million dirhams are allocated to the redevelopment of Boulevard Al Mariniyine. Works include full road rehabilitation, public lighting modernization, and the creation of neighborhood sports facilities such as a skatepark and multi-use courts.
Beyond mobility, the central market will undergo a complete reconstruction with a 90 million dirham budget. The new 4,000-square-meter facility will integrate commercial spaces, administrative offices, restaurants, and underground parking.
Green Spaces, Sanitation and Flood Protection
Fès is also investing 29.5 million dirhams in landscaped boulevards, irrigation systems, and tree planting. The municipal slaughterhouse will be rehabilitated with 12.8 million dirhams to meet hygiene standards.
Additionally, more than 300 million dirhams are committed to flood control along Oued El Mahraz and the construction of a new intercity bus station near the A2 highway, aiming to ease congestion and modernize transport flows.
Together, these projects signal Fès’ determination to accelerate development and regain execution momentum after AFCON 2025.
