The Agdal district in Rabat is preparing to open two new underground parking facilities, a practical step aimed at easing parking shortages and reducing growing traffic pressure in one of the capital’s busiest neighborhoods.
Known for its commercial activity, offices, and high pedestrian flow, Agdal has long faced challenges related to limited parking space and congestion, particularly during peak hours.
Added Capacity to Ease Congestion
The first underground car park, located on Dades (Qeiss) Street, will provide 152 parking spaces, helping to curb illegal and roadside parking. The second facility, situated on Fal Ould Oumeir Street, will offer 326 spaces, including 18 reserved for taxis, a measure designed to better organize taxi services and improve overall traffic flow in the area.
Together, the two projects significantly increase Agdal’s parking capacity, offering a much-needed solution for residents, workers, and visitors.
Improving Mobility and Urban Quality of Life
Beyond addressing parking shortages, the new underground facilities aim to reduce traffic congestion, improve circulation, and enhance mobility within the district. By limiting chaotic parking and freeing up road space, the initiative is expected to make travel smoother and safer in this highly frequented part of Rabat.
The project reflects a broader urban approach focused on sustainable mobility and better use of public space, contributing to improved quality of life and reinforcing Agdal’s role as a well-organized and accessible urban hub within the Moroccan capital.
