Morocco’s Botola Pro will have a visible presence at the Africa Cup of Nations 2025, with six players from the domestic league selected to represent their national teams during the tournament, which will be hosted in Morocco from December 21 to January 18.
While the majority of AFCON participants are based in Europe, the inclusion of locally based players highlights the growing competitiveness and continental relevance of Morocco’s domestic championship.
Wydad Casablanca Lead the Way
Wydad Athletic Club emerge as the most represented Botola Pro side at AFCON 2025, with two players called up by their respective national teams.
Stéphane Aziz Ki will take part in the tournament with Burkina Faso, bringing his experience and midfield influence to one of West Africa’s strongest squads.
Tumisang Orebonye (Tomisang) will represent Botswana, continuing his international journey while showcasing Botola Pro talent on the continental stage.
Their selection reinforces Wydad’s status as a club capable of developing and hosting players of international caliber.

Beyond Wydad, several other Botola Pro clubs will see their players involved in AFCON 2025:
- Munir El Kajoui (El Mohamadi), goalkeeper for RS Berkane, has been selected by Morocco, adding domestic-league experience to the Atlas Lions’ goalkeeping options.
- Mehdi Lahrar, goalkeeper for Raja Casablanca, will also be part of the Moroccan squad, strengthening the local presence within the host nation’s team.
- Kabelo Seakanyeng, currently playing for MAS Fès, has earned a call-up with Botswana, underlining the diversity of nationalities represented in the Botola Pro.
