The Confederation of African Football (CAF) and the Local Organising Committee have officially revealed “Assad”, the official mascot of the TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2025. The character is inspired by the Atlas Lion, a strong national symbol and a unifying figure across the continent.

Asad, a symbol of pride and African football energy

CAF confirmed that the name “Assad” represents strength, pride and cultural authenticity. These values connect deeply with Moroccan fans and with African supporters across all regions. As the ambassador of AFCON 2025, Asad embodies the joy, passion and energy that define the continent’s most prestigious football tournament.

The mascot is designed to spark emotional engagement with fans of all ages. Children and families, a core part of football culture in Africa, are expected to connect strongly with its warm design and vibrant personality.

A central role in fan engagement and tournament identity

According to CAF, Asad will play a leading role in fan interaction throughout AFCON 2025. The mascot will appear in stadiums, fan zones and community events. It will also support global promotional campaigns, digital content and interactive experiences.

The visual identity of Assad is youthful and friendly. Its expressive features and modern style align fully with the AFCON 2025 brand, helping create a unified and dynamic look for the competition.

Beyond the tournament, Assad is expected to remain part of CAF’s long-term football development programs. It will appear in youth initiatives, school projects and future digital activities, acting as a long-term symbol of African football.

Morocco’s AFCON 2025 prepares for a memorable edition

CAF highlighted that the official mascot is an important milestone as Morocco finalises preparations for hosting AFCON 2025 from 21 December 2025 to 18 January 2026. With Assad leading the visual identity, the competition aims to deliver an unforgettable experience that celebrates unity, pride and the spirit of African football.
