Mozambique head coach Chiquinho Conde has confirmed his final 25 man squad for the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2025, with a group that mixes tournament experience and promising new arrivals. The Mambas want to reach the knockout phase for the first time in their history.

Core players return for Morocco 2025

The final list includes 16 players who featured at the previous edition in Côte d’Ivoire. This experienced backbone is led by goalkeepers Ernani and Ivane Urrubal, along with defenders Mexer, Reinildo, Bruno Langa, Ifren Matola, Edmilson Dove and Nené.

In midfield, Guima, Alfons Amade, Dominguez and João Bonde return to anchor the team. The attacking line is built around Ratifo, Gildo, Geny Catamo and Witi, all key figures in Mozambique’s recent campaigns.

Nine new faces in the squad

Chiquinho Conde added nine newcomers to his AFCON 2025 squad. Goalkeeper Kimiss Zavala is called for the first time. Óscar Cherene, Diogo Calila and Chamboco strengthen the defensive sector, while Kambala and Kenys Abdala reinforce midfield depth.

Up front, Melque, Faisal Bangal and Chamito give the team new attacking options. These additions increase competition in every line as Mozambique prepare for a demanding Group B campaign.

Forward Pepo is unavailable due to a knee injury suffered last week. Clésio is omitted for technical reasons, while Fasistêncio Faza, Domingos Macandza, David Malembana, Shaquille, Amadou and Lau King miss out after taking part in the previous edition.

Preparation begins ahead of opening match

Mozambique will face defending champions Côte d’Ivoire in their opening game on 24 December. Players based in Africa and the Middle East will gather in Maputo this week. Europe-based players will join directly in Albufeira in Portugal for a five-day preparation camp starting 16 December.
