FICAM Meknes Announces Its 24th Edition Dedicated to Emerging Animation Talent

The FICAM Meknes will return in May 2026 for its 24th edition, highlighting young animation talent through screenings, workshops, education programs, and professional forums.
FICAM Meknes 2026

The International Animation Film Festival of Meknes (FICAM) has officially announced the dates of its 24th edition, which will take place from May 15 to May 20, 2026. The event continues to strengthen its position as one of the leading animation film festivals in Morocco and across Africa.

Organized by the Aïcha Foundation in partnership with the French Institute of Morocco in Meknes, this year’s edition will spotlight the new generation of creators under the theme “Youth Takes the Lead in Animation Cinema.”

Supporting the Next Generation of Animation Creators

Following a successful 2025 edition dedicated to animation and video games, which welcomed more than 23,000 attendees, FICAM continues its exploration of emerging creative formats. The festival reaffirms its commitment to nurturing young talent and supporting the growth of Morocco’s animation industry.

Through its programming, FICAM aims to strengthen its role as a platform for training, professional development, and networking for animation artists and technicians, both nationally and internationally.

The 2026 edition will feature a rich program including film screenings, hands-on workshops, masterclasses, professional meetings, and industry exchanges, all designed to stimulate creativity and consolidate the national animation ecosystem.

Image Education at the Core of the Festival

Educational outreach remains a cornerstone of FICAM’s mission. A dedicated program for school audiences will once again be at the heart of the festival, offering educational screenings and introductory workshops focused on animation filmmaking.

These activities will take place notably at the French Institute of Meknes, allowing thousands of students to explore the language of animation cinema while developing a critical and creative perspective on visual storytelling. During the previous edition, nearly 6,000 students benefited from this educational initiative.

The 5th Edition of the Animation Film Careers Forum

One of the major highlights of the 24th edition will be the 5th Animation Film Careers Forum, scheduled from May 15 to May 17, 2026. This professional event will focus on a key issue facing the industry: the relationship between training and employment in animation-related professions.

The forum aims to encourage dialogue between young creators, Moroccan animation studios, directors, producers, trainers, and institutional stakeholders. Its objective is to contribute to the structuring of the sector, promote local production, and facilitate the circulation of skills at both national and international levels.

FICAM Maroc Expands Nationwide

Alongside the main festival in Meknes, the FICAM Maroc initiative will run from May 13 to May 23, 2026, across the network of French Institutes throughout Morocco. This extension allows the festival to reach a wider audience beyond Meknes and reinforces public access to animation cinema across the country.

The detailed program for this 24th edition will be announced at a later date. Organizers have already invited audiences, professionals, and young creators to gather next May to celebrate a new generation of talent and support the continued rise of animation cinema in Morocco.
