The Festival International du Cinéma Indépendant de Casablanca (FICIC) will take place across multiple cultural venues in Casablanca and Mohammedia. This major cultural event aims to promote independent cinema while exploring new perspectives on the art of visual storytelling in today’s world.

A Platform for Independent Cinema

FICIC stands out as a powerful platform for filmmakers who challenge traditional commercial formats. By showcasing independent films from around the world, the festival encourages creative freedom and artistic innovation.

The program includes:

One of the highlights is the international feature film competition, presenting films from 14 countries, offering diverse narratives and cinematic styles. The short film competition, with 20 international entries, highlights the growing importance of this format in experimental storytelling.

Documentary Cinema in Focus

Documentary filmmaking takes center stage during this edition, emphasizing real-world stories and social issues. The festival highlights the power of documentaries to explore contemporary transformations without relying on fiction.

A dedicated space will support young filmmakers and students, encouraging creativity, learning, and engagement with modern cinematic practices.

Tribute to Jean-Luc Godard

This year’s edition pays tribute to the legendary filmmaker Jean-Luc Godard, a pioneer of modern cinema and a key figure of the French New Wave.

A special masterclass on anthropological documentary filmmaking will also be आयोजित, offering participants valuable insights into both theory and practice.

Art, Photography & Creative Encounters

The festival expands beyond cinema with a multidisciplinary approach. A photographic and cinematic exhibition titled “Tisser l’existence” explores the relationship between film and photography, reflecting on visual memory and artistic evolution.

Additional highlights include:

  • 📸 Artistic exhibitions
  • 🎭 Encounters between poets and filmmakers
  • 🏆 Tributes honoring Moroccan cinema professionals

Venues & Cultural Partnerships

Festival activities will take place in key cultural institutions, including:

Organized with the support of major partners such as the Centre Cinématographique Marocain and local institutions, the festival strengthens collaboration between cultural, academic, and artistic communities.

Why FICIC 2026 Matters
