Morocco has been awarded the “Best Destination” distinction by Bestravel, a recognition announced at the closing of its 21st Convention held in Casablanca. The award reflects the strong and coordinated efforts between the Moroccan National Tourist Office (ONMT) and Portuguese tourism professionals, alongside closer cooperation with airlines, tour operators, and travel agencies. This joint work has significantly boosted Morocco’s visibility, not only in Portugal but across the wider European market.
This recognition comes amid a period of exceptional momentum for Moroccan tourism. In 2025, the Kingdom welcomed nearly 20 million international visitors, marking a 14% increase compared to 2024 and surpassing strategic targets set for the period.
The Portuguese market, in particular, has shown remarkable dynamism. Morocco received more than 220,000 Portuguese tourists, representing a growth of over 35% compared to 2023 and exceeding 50% above pre-pandemic levels. These figures firmly position Morocco among the fastest-growing destinations for Portuguese travelers.
This sustained rise is driven by Morocco’s proximity to Portugal and the diversity of experiences it offers, from imperial cities and rich cultural heritage to Atlantic beaches, the Sahara Desert, renowned gastronomy, and a hospitality often described as culturally close to that of the Portuguese.
