ONCF Strengthens Maintenance on the Tangier–Casablanca High-Speed Line

Morocco’s national railway operator ONCF has launched a new investment to modernize and secure the Tangier–Casablanca high-speed rail line (LGV). The project involves the acquisition of eight self-propelled lorries dedicated to catenary maintenance, with a total investment estimated at MAD 54.48 million.

These specialized vehicles will play a key role in maintaining overhead electrical systems, a critical element for the safety and reliability of high-speed rail operations. By reinforcing its technical fleet, ONCF aims to ensure smoother operations and reduce risks linked to infrastructure wear on one of Morocco’s most strategic transport corridors.

Preparing the LGV Network for Future Expansion

Beyond the current Tangier–Casablanca line, this investment also supports ONCF’s long-term vision to extend the high-speed network toward Marrakech. The new equipment is designed to meet future operational demands, particularly as Morocco continues to expand its rail infrastructure in line with national mobility and economic development goals.

This move confirms ONCF’s commitment to proactive maintenance and technological readiness, ensuring that the LGV remains reliable while adapting to future extensions of the network.
