The Uganda Cranes have revealed their 30-man provisional squad for AFCON 2025 preparations in Morocco. The team will train in Casablanca before the final 28-man list is confirmed.

Uganda begin AFCON preparations in Morocco

Uganda coach Paul Put selected a balanced group of experienced players and young talents for the country’s first AFCON appearance since 2019. The squad will travel to Morocco for an 11-day camp in Casablanca. Two friendly matches are planned before the final selection is submitted to CAF.

The Cranes are placed in Group C of AFCON 2025 alongside Morocco’s regional neighbours Nigeria, Tanzania and Tunisia. Their opening match is scheduled for 23 December against Tunisia.

Key players in the provisional squad

Veteran goalkeeper Denis Onyango returns to the group while promising teenager James Bogere receives his first senior call-up after a standout U17 World Cup performance.

In attack, Mato Rogers leads the forward line after scoring 15 goals in 17 matches for FK Vardar this season. Midfielder Baba Alhassan and winger Melvyn Lorenzen rejoin the team after strong performances in the November friendly window.

The defensive list features Toby Sibbick, Jordan Obita, Abdu Azizi Kayondo and SC Villa captain David Owori. Khalid Aucho heads a competitive midfield unit expected to add stability in a challenging group.
