Former Real Madrid midfielder Toni Kroos has included Morocco among the national teams capable of making a strong impact at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, citing the clear technical progress made by the Lions of the Atlas in recent years.
Speaking to the Spanish sports daily AS, Kroos shared his view on the main contenders for the global tournament. He pointed to traditional European powers while underlining that Morocco should not be underestimated.

According to AS, Kroos named Spain, Portugal, and France among the leading candidates to compete for the world title, before highlighting Morocco as a potential surprise. He noted that the Moroccan national team has shown significant improvement on a technical level over recent seasons, a development that places them in a position to challenge more established football nations.
Kroos also mentioned Brazil as a perennial contender, while expressing reservations about the expansion of the World Cup format. The former Germany international said he prefers a more compact tournament structure, arguing that player welfare and the overall quality of competition should remain priorities.

Morocco have been drawn into Group C for the 2026 World Cup, alongside Brazil national football team, Haiti national football team, and Scotland national football team.
