A youth team from Stade Rennais FC hosted players from the Mohammed VI Football Academy in a friendly match on Tuesday, 13 January at La Piverdière, the club’s training center in Rennes. The fixture formed part of a broader tour by the Moroccan academy across western France, aimed at exposing its talents to European football environments.
Beyond the result on the pitch, the meeting highlighted the growing relationship between the two institutions, built on shared values around youth development, training methodology, and long-term player progression. In recent years, these links have become more visible through player pathways connecting Morocco and Brittany.
Stade Rennais is already familiar with Moroccan talent. The club previously welcomed Nayef Aguerd, who left a lasting impression during his time in Rennes before moving on to the Premier League. More recently, young defender Abdelhamid Ait Boudlal joined the Rennes setup, further strengthening sporting and institutional exchanges.
For the Mohammed VI Academy, widely regarded as one of Africa’s leading football development centers, the tour represents an opportunity to benchmark its players against elite European academies. For Stade Rennais, it reinforces a strategic openness toward African talent, particularly from Morocco, whose youth systems continue to gain international recognition.
