Morocco head coach Walid Regragui has delivered a powerful and emotional message to Moroccan supporters ahead of the opening match of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, calling for full, passionate backing from the stands.

Speaking during a press conference on Saturday, one day before the Atlas Lions’ opening clash against Comoros, Regragui stressed that the role of fans will be decisive in Morocco’s continental campaign.

“The Crowd Must Be a Real Weapon”

The national team coach underlined that players need more than just attendance in the stands. According to him, Moroccan supporters must transform stadiums into an intimidating environment for opponents.

“We need fans who make the difference,” Regragui said. “Players feel the energy. The crowd must apply pressure on the opponent, not just watch the match.”

Hosting AFCON 2025 on home soil, he added, brings a collective responsibility that goes beyond the pitch.

AFCON at Home: A Shared Responsibility

Regragui insisted that organizing the Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco creates a unique opportunity — but also a major duty, for everyone involved.

“This trophy must stay in Morocco,” he stated firmly. “That will only happen if everyone plays their role: staff, players, and supporters.”

The coach believes that unity between the technical staff, the squad and the fans is essential to achieving continental glory.

“We Don’t Want Phones, We Want Passion”

In a direct and honest appeal, Regragui urged supporters to prioritize vocal support over recording moments on their phones.

“I don’t want fans who come only to take photos,” he said. “I want stands that burn with passion, that push the players forward and disturb the opponent.”

He concluded by reaffirming that winning AFCON 2025 depends on fighting spirit on the pitch and an electric atmosphere in the stands, a combination capable of delivering unforgettable moments and making Moroccan fans proud.
