Gianni Infantino has strongly criticized the scenes that followed the Africa Cup of Nations 2025 final, describing them as a serious breach of football’s core principles. In a message published on his official Instagram account, the president of FIFA denounced the decision by the Senegal national football team players and staff to leave the pitch in protest of an refereeing decision upheld by VAR.
“Leaving the field in this manner is unacceptable,” Infantino wrote, stressing that respect for match officials is a non-negotiable rule at the highest level of the game. His statement follows the controversial end to the final against Morocco national football team, where tensions escalated after a key decision was confirmed through video review.
