Artists Praise the Spirit and Performance of DR Congo
Following the elimination of the DR Congo national football team in the round of 16 of the Africa Cup of Nations, Congolese artists Gims and Dadju publicly praised the performance of their compatriots. Both artists were present in Morocco for the high-intensity encounter, which saw the Leopards narrowly lose to the Algeria national football team after extra time.
Speaking on RMC Sport, Gims highlighted the spirit shown by the Congolese side despite the disappointment of elimination. He congratulated the Leopards for going the distance in a demanding match, while also acknowledging Algeria’s qualification, describing the encounter as a “magical moment” and a reminder that football ultimately brings people together.
Pride, Recognition, and Eyes on the World Cup
Dadju echoed this sentiment, stressing that the DR Congo should now be mentioned among Africa’s leading football nations. While admitting sadness after the defeat, he emphasized that the team fought until the end and deserved respect, insisting there was no shame in the result and only pride in the collective effort.
Both artists also shifted the conversation toward the future, urging the Leopards to focus on qualification for the FIFA World Cup 2026. For Gims and Dadju, the AFCON campaign should be a foundation rather than an endpoint, with the ambition of finally seeing their generation experience a World Cup appearance, an objective they believe remains firmly within reach.
