AFCON 2025: Morocco leads Opta title predictions

As the quarterfinal line-up of AFCON 2025 takes shape, data analysts Opta have released their updated title predictions.
Host nation Morocco remains the leading favorite, ahead of Senegal and Algeria, as the tournament enters its decisive phase.

Opta places Morocco at the top

According to Opta’s probability model, Morocco holds the highest chance of lifting the AFCON 2025 trophy, with a 22.74 percent likelihood.
Despite criticism over their narrow 1-0 win against Tanzania, the Atlas Lions continue to convince through consistency, squad depth,
and tournament control under Walid Regragui.

Morocco will face Cameroon in the quarterfinals, a team that has shown attacking balance since the start of the competition and recently
eliminated South Africa. The clash is expected to be one of the highlights of the round.

Senegal and Algeria remain serious contenders

Senegal sits second in Opta’s projections with a 16.98 percent chance of winning the title. The reigning African champions will meet Mali,
the lowest-ranked team in the predictions but one that already proved its resilience by eliminating Tunisia on penalties.

Algeria appears as a strong outsider with a 14.95 percent probability. After eliminating DR Congo thanks to a late goal by Adil Boulbina,
the Fennecs now face another major test against Nigeria. A potential semifinal against Morocco is already attracting attention.

Nigeria, Egypt and Ivory Coast in the chasing pack

Nigeria (12.41 percent) and Egypt (12.34 percent) remain closely ranked by Opta, reflecting their historical weight and tournament experience.
The two giants continue to rely on defensive structure and individual brilliance to progress.

Defending champions Ivory Coast are less favored, with an 8.80 percent chance of retaining their crown ahead of their quarterfinal clash
against Egypt. Cameroon (6.75 percent) completes the list of remaining contenders.

All predictions will face reality over four decisive matches scheduled on Friday and Saturday, as AFCON 2025 moves closer to its final act
on Moroccan soil.
