Morocco’s tourism sector continues to evolve. This time, innovation comes from Oldentic, a startup focused on experiential travel. Developed within the digital incubation program of the Moroccan Society of Tourism Engineering, the platform introduces a new way to connect travelers with Morocco’s living culture.
Oldentic targets one clear goal. It helps artisans, creators, guides, and local operators turn cultural immersion into bookable tourism experiences. In doing so, it links local know-how directly to international visitors.
A Response to New Travel Expectations
Travel habits are changing. Today, many travelers choose destinations based on experiences rather than hotels. International tourism data confirms this shift. Experiences now shape decisions.
As a result, destinations must adapt. Oldentic steps in at this exact moment. The platform structures informal cultural activities. It standardizes them. It makes them visible. Most importantly, it makes them accessible online.
Fez as the First Testing Ground
Oldentic begins its rollout in Fez, a city known for its strong intangible heritage. This phase relies on fieldwork. The team conducted more than one hundred user interviews. They also supported local actors directly to help them professionalize their offers.
At the same time, the business model favors local value creation. Artisans and cultural operators receive 70 to 80 percent of the revenue generated through the platform. This approach supports inclusion. It also diversifies income at the territorial level.
With strategic support from SMIT, Oldentic has set ambitious targets. The startup aims to attract 300,000 travelers by 2026. By 2030, it plans to reach 2.8 million users. Digital tourism growth and upcoming international events support this trajectory. After Fez, expansion to other regions of Morocco is already planned.
