Climate, Connectivity and Consistent Demand
Marrakech continues to dominate as the preferred winter destination for French travelers, supported by mild weather and expanding air connectivity. According to coverage in Le Figaro, the Red City remains the top choice for February holidays, even as new Moroccan destinations gain momentum thanks to improved flight networks.
Morocco has become the leading non-European foreign destination for French tourists. While several cities are recording double-digit growth, Marrakech retains its appeal, driven by its climate, accessibility, and competitive pricing. Search engine Liligo highlights a simple formula behind the trend: warm weather, short travel time, and controlled budgets.
In 2025, the city recorded more than 12.4 million overnight stays during the first eleven months, reflecting steady growth and strong seasonal occupancy. Riads reported average occupancy rates above 80%, with many nearing full capacity during winter holidays.
Air Capacity Fuels Momentum
Improved connectivity plays a decisive role. New routes and additional frequencies from French cities continue to reinforce Marrakech’s accessibility. Low-cost carrier Transavia now operates up to 61 weekly flights to Marrakech from multiple French airports, accounting for nearly half of its Morocco-bound capacity this winter.
The sustained demand follows a strong tourism year boosted by major events such as the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, which enhanced Morocco’s international visibility.
With rising air capacity and consistent visitor demand, Marrakech consolidates its position as Morocco’s flagship winter destination ahead of 2030.
