The wait is finally over. With the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations set to kick off in Morocco on December 21, head coach Walid Regragui has unveiled the official squad that will carry the hopes of the nation in a long-awaited home edition. Nearly 50 years after their only continental triumph in 1976, the Lions of Atlas enter the tournament with one of their strongest generations in decades, and expectations are higher than ever.
Morocco will launch their campaign at the spectacular new Prince Moulay Abdellah Rabat Stadium against the Comoros, a crucial Group A opener in front of a home crowd hungry for glory.
Hakimi Included Despite Injury — Igamane Placed on Standby
As anticipated, Achraf Hakimi features in the list despite still recovering from his ankle injury. Regragui confirmed that the PSG star will join the squad and continue his rehabilitation under the supervision of both the Moroccan and Paris Saint-Germain medical teams.
The main uncertainty revolved around striker Hamza Igamane, in exceptional form with Lille before his recent hamstring issue. The young forward has been named among the reserves and could still join the final squad if fully fit before the tournament kicks off.
Defensive Stability and Midfield Cohesion
Morocco rely on a strong defensive block featuring Nayef Aguerd, Romain Saïss, Noussair Mazraoui and the promising Abdelhamid Aït Boudlal. The group offers a balance of maturity and youth, with multiple options at centre-back and full-back.
In midfield, Regragui opts for continuity with Sofyan Amrabat, Azzedine Ounahi, Ismael Saibari, Bilal El Khannouss, Neil El Aynaoui and Oussama Targhalline. A collective known for its technical ability, creativity and versatility.

Morocco’s attacking options are plentiful. Ayoub El Kaabi, Youssef En-Nesyri and Soufiane Rahimi lead the front line, supported by a dynamic group of playmakers including Brahim Díaz, Abde Ezzalzouli, Ilias Akhomach, Chemsdine Talbi and Eliesse Ben Seghir.
As expected, Sofiane Boufal is not included in the squad.
