The Royal Moroccan Football Federation confirms exclusive support for Gianni Infantino’s re-election as FIFA president during the 2027 Congress in Rabat.

FRMF Announces Exclusive Support for Gianni Infantino

The Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) has formally announced its support for Gianni Infantino’s candidacy for the presidency of FIFA. The election will take place on March 18, 2027, in Rabat, during the 77th FIFA Congress.

In an official letter published on May 1, the Moroccan federation expressed its clear and exclusive backing of the current FIFA president. The FRMF stated that it is “pleased to propose the candidacy” of Gianni Infantino for a new mandate covering the 2027–2031 period.

The statement also emphasized that this support is exclusive, confirming that the federation will not endorse any other candidate for the position.

Continental Support Reinforced by CAF

Morocco’s position aligns with that of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), which has also publicly supported Infantino’s re-election. During a meeting held in Vancouver ahead of the 76th FIFA Congress, CAF members unanimously agreed to back the current president.

This unified stance reflects a consistent pattern. African football associations have previously supported Infantino in earlier elections, notably in Kigali in 2023 and in Paris in 2019.

Rabat to Host a Strategic Global Football Event

The 77th FIFA Congress, scheduled for March 18, 2027, will bring together more than 2,000 representatives from FIFA’s 211 member associations. Rabat was selected as the host city following a FIFA Council meeting held on April 28, 2026, in Vancouver.

Hosting this major institutional event further strengthens Morocco’s position within global football governance. It also reflects the country’s growing influence ahead of major international competitions, including the 2030 FIFA World Cup.

A Strategic Moment for Global Football Leadership

The upcoming election represents a key moment for FIFA’s leadership and long-term strategic direction. Gianni Infantino, who has served as FIFA president since 2016, is seeking another four-year term.

With strong backing from African federations and key football stakeholders, the 2027 election in Rabat is expected to play a decisive role in shaping the future governance of international football.

For Morocco, this development goes beyond institutional support. It reinforces the Kingdom’s role as a central actor in global football, capable of hosting high-level events while contributing to the sport’s strategic evolution.
