Comoros Announce Final 26-Man Squad for AFCON 2025 in Morocco

Comoros have announced their final 26-man squad for AFCON 2025, blending experienced leaders with new talents ahead of a challenging Group A featuring Morocco, Mali and Zambia. Full squad list, analysis, and preparation details.
Comoros Final Squad

Comoros have officially unveiled their final 26-man squad for the 2025 TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations, with head coach Stefano Cusin opting for squad continuity while integrating a new generation of rising talents. The tournament kicks off on 21 December in Morocco, where the Coelacanths will compete in a demanding Group A.

Cusin has retained the backbone of the team that featured throughout the AFCON and 2026 World Cup qualifiers, reaffirming trust in the group that has made Comoros one of Africa’s most exciting emerging sides.

New Faces Strengthen the Project

The major headline is the introduction of two standout performers from the Comoros A’ team at the 2025 Arab Cup, Zaid Amir and Yannis Kari. Their selection reflects the federation’s long-term plan to blend youth and experience while expanding depth across key positions.

Both players impressed during the regional tournament, convincing Cusin they were ready to step into the senior setup for a major competition.

Experience Still at the Core

Despite the youthful additions, the squad continues to rely on its most influential leaders. Midfield maestro Youssouf M’Changama remains the creative hub of the team, while attacker Faïz Selemani enters the tournament as one of the Comoros’ most decisive threats.

Goalkeeper Yannick Pandor returns as the presumed starter, supported by Ben Salim Boina and Adel Anzimati, a trio that has offered consistency through the entire qualification cycle.

Balanced Defence with Youth & Maturity

The defensive unit mixes leaders like Kassim M’Dahoma and Akim Abdallah with younger, dynamic names such as Idriss Mohamed, Kenan Toibibou and Ismaël Boura. The combination gives Comoros tactical flexibility at the back while preparing the next generation.

Group A Challenge: Morocco, Mali & Zambia

The Coelacanths will face one of the toughest groups of the tournament, starting their AFCON journey with a high-profile clash against hosts Morocco on 21 December in Casablanca. Cusin has described the match as “a chance to set the tone” for their campaign.

Comoros will complete their pre-AFCON preparation with friendly matches against Gambia and Madagascar.
