The 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, scheduled to take place in Morocco from December 21 to January 18, is already being hailed as a historic edition. Speaking in Rabat, CAF Secretary General Véron Mosengo-Omba stated that AFCON Morocco 2025 will be “the best ever organised” in the history of the competition.
CAF praises Morocco’s preparations for AFCON 2025
During a press briefing dedicated to the latest preparations ahead of the tournament, the Secretary General of the Confederation of African Football described the upcoming AFCON as a truly “global event”. According to Mosengo-Omba, Morocco is setting new standards for African football, with an organisation expected to break multiple records.
“This will be an AFCON of all records,” he said, highlighting the unprecedented scale of preparation and anticipation surrounding the competition.
World-class infrastructure at the heart of AFCON Morocco 2025
One of the key elements underlined by CAF’s top official is the quality of Morocco’s infrastructure. From stadiums and training centres to transport networks and hospitality facilities, the Kingdom has invested heavily to ensure a seamless experience for teams, fans and officials.
Mosengo-Omba praised Morocco’s “world-class infrastructure”, stressing that such facilities are essential to guarantee the success of Africa’s flagship football tournament.
Record-breaking enthusiasm and ticket sales
The CAF Secretary General also highlighted the extraordinary level of public interest ahead of the competition. According to official figures, more than one million tickets have already been sold, a record at this stage of the tournament.
“We have never played an AFCON with such enthusiasm,” Mosengo-Omba stated, pointing to the massive turnout expected across host cities including Rabat, Casablanca, Tangier, Marrakech, Fes and Agadir.

Beyond the tournament itself, AFCON Morocco 2025 represents a strategic milestone for the country as it continues preparations for co-hosting the 2030 FIFA World Cup.
