AS FAR Women suffered a heavy 6–0 loss to Arsenal Women on Tuesday evening in the semi-final of the inaugural Women’s Champions Cup 2026, played at Brentford Stadium in London.
The English side quickly imposed their rhythm and dominated the first half, creating repeated chances against AS FAR goalkeeper Khadija Rmichi. The Moroccan champions mainly relied on counter-attacks but struggled to contain Arsenal’s intensity. Four goals were scored before the break by Stina Blackstenius (10’), Frida Maanum (12’), Mariona Caldentey (penalty, 22’), and Olivia Smith (41’).
The second half followed a similar script, with Arsenal continuing to control possession and tempo. Alessia Russo completed the rout with two goals in the 66th and 76th minutes.
Arsenal entered the tournament as UEFA Women’s Champions League winners for the 2024–2025 season, after defeating Barcelona in the final. AS FAR Women reached the semi-finals after overcoming Wuhan Jiangda Women 2–1 after extra time in Berrechid and qualified as CAF Women’s Champions League holders 2025, following their victory over ASEC Mimosas.
Despite the result, AS FAR’s presence at this stage reflects the growing competitiveness of Moroccan and African women’s club football on the global scene.
