The Africa Cup of Nations AFCON 2025 will take place in Morocco from December 21 to January 18, bringing together the continent’s top national teams for the 35th edition of the tournament. Beyond continental glory, this edition also stands out for its increased prize money, confirming AFCON’s growing economic and sporting weight.
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has once again raised the financial stakes, making AFCON 2025 one of the most lucrative editions in the competition’s history.
A Major Financial Reward for the Winner
The team that lifts the AFCON 2025 trophy will receive 7 million US dollars, equivalent to approximately 5.9 million euros, as prize money for winning the tournament.
When performance bonuses from each stage are included, the total earnings for the champion can reach up to 11.6 million dollars (around 9.8 million euros). This cumulative figure reflects CAF’s strategy to reward consistency and success throughout the competition.
Total Prize Pool Distributed by CAF
For AFCON 2025, CAF will distribute a total prize pool of 32 million dollars (approximately 27.3 million euros) among participating teams.
Even teams eliminated early will receive financial compensation. The teams finishing last in their group will still earn 500,000 dollars, ensuring a minimum reward for participation at this level.
