AFCON 2025: Over one million tickets already sold, confirms CAF Secretary General

The 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, scheduled to take place in Morocco from December 21 to January 18, continues to break records even before kickoff. Speaking on Tuesday in Rabat, CAF Secretary General Véron Mosengo-Omba confirmed that more than one million tickets have already been sold, describing the upcoming tournament as “the best ever organised”.

CAF expects a record-breaking AFCON in Morocco

During a press conference focused on the final stages of Morocco’s preparations, Mosengo-Omba described AFCON Morocco 2025 as a “global event”, underlining its exceptional scale and impact. According to the CAF official, this edition is on track to become “the AFCON of all records”.

He highlighted the unprecedented enthusiasm surrounding the tournament, noting that such ticket sales at this stage have never been recorded in the competition’s history.

World-class infrastructure praised by CAF

The CAF Secretary General paid special tribute to the quality of Morocco’s sports infrastructure, which he described as “world-class”. Stadiums, training facilities and logistics systems have been designed to meet the highest international standards and ensure the success of Africa’s flagship football competition.

“The Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium is a true museum,” Mosengo-Omba stated, stressing that the venues selected for AFCON 2025 reflect Morocco’s long-term vision for sports development.

Royal support and continental solidarity

In his remarks, Mosengo-Omba also expressed deep gratitude to His Majesty King Mohammed VI for the continuous efforts undertaken in support of African football. He praised Morocco’s commitment to placing its modern sports infrastructure at the disposal of African nations, reinforcing the Kingdom’s role as a pillar of continental solidarity.

“We have never played an AFCON with such enthusiasm,” he added, linking the record ticket sales to the confidence inspired by Morocco’s organisation and leadership.

AFCON 2025: a truly global sporting event

Echoing CAF’s assessment, FRMF General Coordinator Mouad Hajji emphasised that AFCON Morocco 2025 is “not only a continental competition, but a global event”. He highlighted the close coordination between CAF and the Local Organising Committee (LOC) to ensure smooth crowd mobility and an optimal fan experience.

According to Hajji, Morocco’s road, rail and hotel infrastructure will play a key role in welcoming supporters from across Africa and beyond.

The 2025 Africa Cup of Nations will be staged in nine stadiums across six host cities: Rabat, Casablanca, Tangier, Agadir, Fes and Marrakech.
