Morocco Finish Top of Group A
Morocco secured qualification for the knockout stage in convincing fashion by finishing first in Group A. Walid Regragui’s men delivered a commanding performance on Monday night at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat, defeating Zambia 3-0 on the final matchday of the group stage.
The Atlas Lions had previously opened their campaign with a solid 2-0 victory over Comoros, before being held to a 1-1 draw against Mali. That draw had no impact on Morocco’s qualification, as the hosts comfortably topped the group.
Tanzania Qualify as One of the Best Third-Placed Teams
Tanzania finished third in Group C and secured their place in the Round of 16 after drawing 1-1 with Tunisia on Tuesday at the Olympic Stadium in Rabat.
The Taifa Stars began their AFCON campaign with a 2-1 defeat to Nigeria, before earning a crucial 1-1 draw against Uganda. With two points, Tanzania ended level with Comoros and Angola, but qualified thanks to superior attacking efficiency.
Despite sharing the same goal difference (-1) as Angola, Tanzania progressed by scoring more goals (three compared to Angola’s two).
