AFCON 2025 draws record global media coverage from Morocco

The Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2025 continues to break records, not only on the pitch but also in global media exposure. With thousands of journalists on the ground and matches broadcast worldwide, the tournament confirms its growing international stature.

Thousands of journalists accredited across Morocco

According assahifa.com, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) received more than 5,400 media accreditation requests from around the world for AFCON 2025. This unprecedented demand highlights the strong international interest in the tournament hosted by Morocco.

To accommodate this exceptional turnout, CAF extended the accreditation deadline, allowing a broader range of international media outlets to cover the competition. In total, around 3,800 journalists are currently reporting directly from Moroccan stadiums and host cities.

Matches broadcast in nearly 200 countries worldwide

Beyond on-site coverage, AFCON 2025 benefits from massive global television exposure. The tournament is being broadcast in 54 African countries, across 30 European nations, and in many other regions worldwide.

According to CAF Secretary General Veron Mosengo-Omba, media rights requests reached nearly 1,000 applications, with matches available in close to 200 FIFA member associations out of 211. This level of distribution represents a historic milestone for African football.

In a first for the United Kingdom, Channel 4 secured broadcasting rights to air all AFCON matches live, further expanding the tournament’s reach in major European markets.

CAF and the local organizing committee reaffirmed their commitment to providing top-level services for accredited media, from modern press facilities to smooth logistics across host cities.
