Morocco continues to reinforce its image as a major tourist destination in Europe, particularly in Spain, one of its most strategic source markets. The Moroccan National Tourist Office (ONMT) has recently received two prestigious distinctions in Spain, confirming the relevance and consistency of its long-term promotional strategy aimed at travel professionals.

These awards recognize the sustained efforts deployed by the ONMT to enhance the visibility, accessibility, and attractiveness of Morocco within Spanish travel distribution networks, while also highlighting the growing appeal of the Kingdom’s tourism offering.

Morocco Named “International Destination of the Year 2025”

The Spanish Confederation of Travel Agencies (CEAV) has awarded Morocco the title of “International Destination of the Year 2025.” The prize was presented to Achraf Fayda, Director General of the ONMT.

This distinction rewards Morocco’s strategic approach to promotion, communication, and the structuring of its tourism offer for Spanish travel agencies and tour operators, key prescribers in the market. Representing thousands of agencies across Spain, CEAV is a central stakeholder in the Spanish tourism industry, and its recognition underlines the strength of the partnership between Morocco and Spanish travel professionals.

A Second Recognition in Andalusia

At the regional level, the Andalusian Federation of Travel Agencies (FAAV) named Morocco the “Preferred International Destination” of Andalusian travel agencies. The award was also presented to Achraf Fayda by Antonio Caño, president of the Cordoba Association of Travel Agencies and secretary general of FAAV.

This distinction reflects Morocco’s rising popularity in Andalusia, a key market due to its geographical proximity and regular tourist flows. It is further supported by the continuous development of air connections between Spain and Morocco, as well as maritime links connecting southern Spain to the Kingdom.

Through these two major awards, the ONMT reinforces Morocco’s position as a reliable, high-performing, and sustainable destination on the Spanish market, backed by close partnerships with travel professionals, expanded point-to-point air routes, and a tourism offer that continues to evolve in line with traveler expectations.
