Moroccan coach Tarik Sektioui has officially been named the new head coach of Oman’s national team, the Oman Football Association confirmed on Sunday, March 22, 2026.
The 48-year-old tactician replaces Portuguese manager Carlos Queiroz, marking a new chapter in his international coaching career after a successful spell with Morocco’s national teams.

Despite not qualifying for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, Oman will offer Sektioui immediate competitive challenges.
The team is set to compete in the 27th Arabian Gulf Cup, scheduled from September 23 to October 6, 2026, in Jeddah. Oman has reached the final in the last two editions, in 2023 and 2025.
Oman is also qualified for the AFC Asian Cup, which will take place from January 7 to February 6 in Saudi Arabia.

Sektioui’s appointment reflects Oman’s ambition to build on recent performances and aim for regional success.
